MXL2 Automation Pack
Automate the Unreachable in Ableton Live
MXL2 Automation Pack is a collection of five Max-for-Live devices that let you automate, control, and manipulate parameters that cannot normally be modified via MIDI mapping or automation curves in Ableton Live. Whether you’re performing live or refining a complex studio project, this toolkit gives you precise control over tempo, recording settings, track parameters, and mixer functions—without relying on workarounds.
- MXL2 Auto Tempo controls BPM, time signature, metronome, global groove amount, and clip launch quantization, making it easy to automate tempo changes inside clips or with MIDI mapping.
- MXL2 Auto Transport lets you take full control of Live’s recording features, including overdub, automation arm, and global record settings for both Session and Arrangement views.
- MXL2 Auto Scale modifies Live’s global scale dynamically, not only through automation but also using MIDI notes. Play a note to instantly change the scale root, or trigger specific scales using a dedicated octave range. (Works only with Live 12.)
- MXL2 Auto Track manages mute, solo, and arm settings for the current track and up to 15 adjacent tracks.
- MXL2 Auto Mixer expands on previous device, offering control over volume, panning, sends, and other mixer settings—either through automation or by sending MIDI notes to the device.
Live performers can trigger BPM changes, scale shifts, and mixer automation in real time, without having to manually adjust settings. Producers can automate tempo shifts without using Arrangement automation and dynamically modify track states with precision. Session View users can store automation inside clips, eliminating the need to switch to Arrangement mode for global changes.
All devices support MIDI mapping, automation curves, and parameter synchronization. MXL2 Auto Scale and MXL2 Auto Mixer feature advanced MIDI-triggered automation, allowing notes to directly modify parameters without needing standard MIDI mappings.
The ability to control MXL2 Auto Scale and MXL2 Auto Mixer with MIDI notes makes it possible to change Live’s global scale or track mix dynamically using a MIDI keyboard or sequencer. Notes stored in a clip can trigger automatic changes at key moments in a performance, while notes received from an external controller allow real-time, hands-free manipulation of parameters. Reserving an octave on your keyboard to scale changes lets you select both scale root and type with a single key press, while storing scale changes in a MIDI clip ensures transitions happen precisely in time. Similarly, MIDI notes can activate, solo and arm multiple tracks from an external controller.

IMPORTANT: it works with Live 11 and 12 Suite Edition or Standard Edition with for Max-for-Live support. The MXL2 Auto Scale device controls Live's global scale feature and therefore requires Live 12.
