M2TM Riffs

M2TM Riffs is a MIDI Tool for Ableton Live 12 that generates random melodies and bass lines, based on the intervals, note durations, and accents that you specify.

Rather than generating “totally random” notes, M2TM Riffs crafts phrases that sound musically inspired, setting it apart from other melody generators. With control over nearly 40 parameters—such as the likelihood of specific intervals, the repetition rate of rhythmic patterns, and more—you can finely tune each phrase. Despite the depth of options, the interface is designed to be intuitive, so just a few quick adjustments with your mouse can bring your musical vision to life.

M2TM Riffs offers versatility, generating phrases that adapt effortlessly to any genre, style, and tempo. It even handles uncommon time signatures—like 5/4 or 7/8—smoothly and intuitively.

What truly distinguishes M2TM Riffs is its “partial randomization” feature. Instead of re-generating a totally different melody each time, you can tweak individual attributes—such as durations, intervals, or accents—without affecting the entire phrase. Want to regenerate just the rhythm, pitch, or accent pattern? Simply click one of the four dedicated buttons to update only the selected attribute:
