M2TM Fugue Maker

M2TM Fugue Maker is a MIDI tool for Ableton Live 12 that is capable to generate up to 5 voices by applying a set of transformation rules to a melody. It's is named after the fugue composition genre (think of J.S.Bach), yet the principles on which it is based have been applied to many different music styles over the centuries. M2TM Fugue Maker makes this technique available to contemporary electronic musicians, too!

M2TM Fugue Maker is quite a peculiar MIDI generator tool, because it does not generate notes in the current clip. Instead, you select the clip that contain the seed melody and then you set the target track and the transformation rules to generate the first voice. These rules let you change the melody's speed, direction, octave; you can transpose all notes up or down by a diatonic interval, apply legato/staccato style, and more.

You can even create chords from individual notes in the seed melody, and let M2TM Fugue Maker choose the best inversion for you with the auto-inversion option, and merge note in commons between consecutive chords with the legato option.

A truly unique feature is the ability to process up to 12 seed clips in adjacent rows in the same track. Because you can define 5 voices for each seed clip, this means that you can generate 60 clips in one single operation! Throw in some nice effects, maybe an arpeggiator, and the right reverb and compressor, and you'll end up with a complete song in a few seconds!
